Professional Investor
A professional investor is someone who holds an Australian Financial Services License (AFSL) or has or controls gross assets of at least $10m or more. To show that you are a professional investor you need an AFSL number or proof of assets.
Sophisticated Investor
A sophisticated investor is someone who has a gross personal income over the last 2 years of at least $250k or has net assets of over $2.5m or who invests $500k or more.
Experienced Investor
To be deemed an Experienced Investor Thrifty Money must be convinced that the applicant has the necessary experience and insight able to assess the merits in the offer, to assess the value of the underlying security, the risks involved in accepting the offer, its own information needs and the adequacy of the information given by the person making the offer.
Retail Investor
A retail investor is someone who is not deemed to be a professional, sophisticated, or experienced investor. Thrifty Money is entitled to, subject to Section 708 of the Act, allowed to accept a limited number of Retail Investors.
